| The Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department was a
club around the year 1960, called the Shamrod Car Club!
A fire broke out and claimed Moss's Mill
just south of Tamworth near the old Train Station building
It was formed up of a few men that raised enough
money at their first Jamboree and bought a Portable Pump and 1 length of
hose to fight fires with, this was pulled to fires behind one of their
cars on a trailer.
From there they finally got a place to store the
few items of fire Equipment they had in a Building that was built in the
1960's
However the building lasted till the middle 90's,
Then a new Fire Hall was then built just West of Tamworth on County Road
#4, where they now have a beautiful 4 bay
fire hall, complete with a training room, meeting room, Dispatch office,
Officers offices and also an OPP Office, and all is wheel chair accessible!
We have a total of 24 men and women that make
up our Proffessional team! |
