Black River to British Columbia
Angus & Christina MacIntosh
Angus MacINTOSH (b.08 June 1827, d.18 Oct 1921)
[1]
was the fifth child of
David & Betsey MacINTOSH of Black River, Kent Co.
He married
Christina McNAUGHTON
(b.17 June 1825, d.1913) [2], daughter of
Donald McNAUGHTON and Margaret McBEATH of Black River, Northumberland Co.
They had the following children[3]:
- Margaret M. McINTOSH "Maggie" (b.1 Nov 1857, d.1911 [1])
Maggie married Judson Burpee CLARKE on 12 Oct 1893 in Northumberland Co.
They lived in Rexton and had a son Donald.
- Elizabeth Sinclair McINTOSH (b.1859, d.1915 in Chatham [1])
- Anna Gordon McINTOSH (b.30 Sept 1861, d.11 Aug 1956 in Vancouver)
We believe this is the Cousin Anna referred to as a correspondent in Deedie's
account. She was quite elderly and
"lived somewhere out west."
- Mary Barbara McINTOSH (b.1864, d.12 Apr 1936 in Vancouver)
Mary married John Moore Kelly LETSON (b.1864, d.1904) on 08 Oct 1895.
They have several known descendants bearing names such as
LETSON, ASHWORTH, BAXTER, and STARK.
- Donald McNaughton McINTOSH (b.26 Nov 1865, d.06 Jun 1944 in Vancouver)
- David Angus McINTOSH (b.1870, d.14 Apr 1935 in North Vancouver)
Angus & Christina & family appear in the 1861 and 1871 censuses at
Black River, but by 1881 most of the family had removed to Chatham (N.B.)
where Angus practised carpentry -- a trade handed down from his father.
In 1881 Maggie, Elizabeth and Annie were all teachers.
By 1898 Mary & John Moore LETSON had moved to Vancouver.
Much of the rest of the family apparently joined Mary and her children in
B.C. sometime after 1901.

This is the only source I have for Angus' exact birthdate.
