Jane & Eben Weatherbee
Jane Dickson was born 22 September 1824 in Ireland, the
eldest child of John & Jenny Dickson.
On 26 October 1847 she married Ebenezer Weatherbee (b. about 1817).
Eben & Jane had the following children:
- Mary was born about 1849. We know nothing further about her; she
appears in her parents household in the 1871 census and nowhere else that
I have yet found.
- John D. was born 3 July 1850, and married Sarah A. Schurman of Springhill
21 Sept 1881, daughter of Joseph & Mary Schurman of Saltspring. John &
Sarah had at least six children.
- Eleanor Sarah (or Sarah Eleanor, or Ellen) was born 24 April 1852.
On 31 October 1876 she married Edwin Stevens of Greenville, son of Joshua
& Lydia Stevens of New Annan. Ellen & Edwin had at least seven
children.
- William H. (b.25 May 1854, d.1935), married Elizabeth Demings of
Springhill on 6 Marh 1888. By 1891 he was married to Augusta (Gussie)
Powers, with whom he had two sons.
- Jane, born about 1856, married James Work of Truro on 5 May 1874.
- Mercy, born about 1858, no further information.
- Martha P., born about 1859, died 30 May 1886.
- Alice, born about 1862, no further information.
- James Balcom, born about 1864, died 29 September 1929.
- Lydian Seaman, born 26 August 1866, died 1 December 1884.
Jane died 9 April 1884, and Eben died 6 March 1897, having lived with his son
William for a few years.
