Ellen & Richard Colburn

Ellen Sarah DICKSON was the third daughter of John and Jenny DICKSON, born 20 March 1832 while they were living in the River Philip area. She married Richard COLBURN on 2 March 1851, 1853 or 1854.[1]

Richard and Ellen's children were:[1-4]

• Ann Jane, born 1854, married Donald McDONALD of Inverness 20 May 1872
• Mary Amelia, born 1855, married William McLEAN of Springhill 23 April 1874
• Robert, born 1856
• Maud or Margery, born 1859, married Robert F. STEWART of Dorchester 23 December 1880
• Asa, born 1862
• Rufus Freeman, born either 25 December 1864 or 1 January 1865, moved to Winnipeg
• Permilla, born 19 January 1867, married Charles B. BETTS of Oxford 6 March 1889
• Henry Stephen born 14 July 1869
• Martha Alice, born 6 May 1872 and died 28 June the same year
• Clara, born about 1878

Ellen died 22 February 1918.[5]

Margery married Robert Fletcher STEWART, son of Sarah and Charles STEWART of Londonderry, Colchester County. Margery was Robert's second wife. Robert had one son with his first wife and five sons and five daughters with Margery. Robert's family moved entirely to the United States. Margery died in 1933 in New York City and is buried in Brookline, Mass.[6]

Rufus became a policeman in Winnipeg, where he married Elizabeth MULDOON (1866-1922) on 6 September 1888. Rufus and Elizabeth had the following children:[7,8]

Permilla married Charles BETTS, son of Susan and Alexander BETTS of Oxford. Permilla and Charles had these children:[9,10]

• Gertrude, born 14 January 1890, married Alexander Ross FALCONER of New Glasgow 27 December 1911
• Albert Edward, born 16 January 1892
• Miller, born 20 February 1894
• Charles, born 1 June 1896
• Annie, born 14 February 1900
