GENERAL RULES

 

1.          The Executive of   the Section shall consist of the Chair Of Flight and the Rating and Ruling Committee comprised of the Chair and two members of the Senior Men’s Flight Section (known herein as the "Chair's Committee").

 

2.          The executive positions are to be held for one year and may be renewed on an annual basis on the recommendation of the flight members.

 

3.          Duties of the Chair's Committee:

 

            a. Organize the flight teams into appropriate divisions.

            b. Determine the schedule of games and playoffs.

            c. Rule on the eligibility of substitute players.

 

4.          For the purpose of these rules a member of the Senior Men’s Section is defined as any member of the Men’s Section who has attained fifty years of age and has participated in play in any of the Senior Men’s Section games, either Flight, Club, or Bi-club; or who fills an executive position with the Senior Men’s Section; or a Senior Men’s Member as defined in the Club Bylaws.

 

 

GAMES RULES

 

1.          Flight teams may be formed by four senior male members of RKCC.

 

2.          Teams must have a minimum of four, and may have a maximum of five, permanent players.   Players may not be permanent members of more than one team.

 

3.          The flight league will be organized into divisions consisting of teams deemed to be relatively equal in ability and experience.   The Chair’s Committee will allocate teams to the divisions.

 

4.          Regular season’s play shall consist of one or more round-robin draws within each division.   After completion of each draw, teams finishing at the bottom of the standings in a division shall move to the next lower division; teams finishing at the top shall move to the next higher division. The number of teams to move shall be determined by the Chair's Committee.

 

5.          All games will be eight ends

 

6.          Ties will not be broken.

 

7.          A team may play with only three players if necessary.   The first two players will throw three rocks each.

 

Scoring

 

8.          Scoring for flight standings will be:

 

  Win 3 Points
  Tie 2 points
  Loss 1 point
  Default Loss 0 points

 

9.          If there is a tie in points between one or more teams to determine flight standing or playoff positions, the tie will be broken on the basis of:

 

            a.   who beat whom

            b.   record against teams finishing higher in the final standings

            c.   record against teams finishing lower in the final standings

            d.   as decided by the Chair's Committee

 

Substitution

 

10.        At least two members of a team must be present for a game to be official.

 

11.        Round-robin play: Any member of the Senior Men’s Section is eligible to substitute in round-robin play.

 

12.        Playoff games: Substitutes for playoff games must have played at least twice in Senior Men’s Section games; either Flight, Club, or Bi-club during regular season’s play. When a substitute player is drawn from another senior flight team, that player may substitute only on a team within, or higher than, his final flight division. Such players shall play only at their rated, or higher, positions.

 

13.        The Chair’s Committee may grant exceptions to the substitution rules in extenuating circumstances, prior to the start of any game.

 

Postponements

 

14.        A regular season game may be postponed at any time if the opposing skips agree.   A postponed game must be played before the completion of the last regularly scheduled game of the current draw. Playoff games may be postponed only with the approval of the Chair's Committee.

 

Playoffs

 

15.        At the end of regularly scheduled play there shall be playoffs within each division of the Senior Men’s Flight League to determine the overall winner of that division.   The winner of the highest ranking division will be considered the winner of the Senior Men’s Flight League.

 

16.        The divisional playoffs shall be in the form of a single-knockout elimination draw to determine the overall winner(s).   Defeated teams shall drop to as many supplementary events as required to enable as many teams as possible to remain in play until the final day of competition.

 

17.        The playoffs shall end on a final day of competition and socializing with as many teams as possible playing at least one game.
